The Provincetown Jazz Festival, created to establish the first three-day Jazz Festival on Cape Cod, has in store this year an impressive line-up.

Running August 15 – 17 in Provincetown, this year’s 4th Annual Provincetown Jazz Festival features Maryland-based Afro Bop Alliance (one of the mist exciting new bands on the Latin jazz scene); Zoe Lewis (Provincetown’s own, accompanied by her band); Greg Abate (just returning from an European tour); Dane Vannatter (“My Favorite among the new young males singers,” says jazz vocalist Carol Sloane): Joe Muranyi (a clarinetist who performed for five years with Louis Armstrong); Mercedes Hall (a New York-based vocalist); Charlie Harris (Boston-based Jazz & Blues vocalist); Marcelle Gauvin (a jazz instructor at the University of Massachusetts) and four well known festival performers:  Steve Ahern (trumpet and flute); John Harrison (piano); Chris Rathbun (bass); and Bart Weisman (drums).

The Festival will also donate a portion of the proceeds to worthy causes in Provincetown.  Tickets are $25 per concert and all events are held at the Provincetown High School.  For more information, go to www.ProvincetownJazzFestival.org.
